Undergraduate Lab

Undergraduate students pursuing their degrees in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Physical Education, Psychology, Social Studies Education, Music Performance, and Vocal and Instrumental Music Education have the opportunity to conduct research at the lab. Students can get a bird's-eye-view of the discipline in which they will be teaching. Students may choose to align research projects with best practices used in the Lab School or they may decide to break new ground in personal areas of interest.

The Lab School Experience for Undergraduate Students

At SNU we know your education needs to extend beyond the classroom. That’s why we work hard to provide unique experiences that will enhance your learning and prepare you for your career. You may want to participate in our tutoring program where you can work with local K-6 students needing special attention in curriculum and classroom training. This program gives you excellent, practical and real-world experience. Or consider working with School for Children—the only university state-accredited private laboratory school in Oklahoma. In this Pre-K through 6 grade school, you will have the opportunity to observe teachers and students starting in your first semester. Try to find field experience that early anywhere!

Early Childhood Education Degree

As an Early Childhood Education Major at SNU, you will be immersed in multiple kinds of experiences qualifying you for a diverse range of teaching opportunities. Ensuring you will have a broad knowledge base and strong experiences making you an excellent teaching candidate upon graduation. Unique and early field experience. Hands-on practicum. Elementary Education Degree

Vocal or Instrumental Music Education Degree

Whether you choose to teach in a public, private, or home school cooperatives' education settings, SNU's Vocal and Instrumental Music Education programs will provide you the expertise you need to succeed. Through festivals, contests, school performances, and workshops- you will participate in a variety of programs preparing you for a wide range of teaching opportunities.

Physical Education Degree

The SNU Physical Education degree will help you build a strong foundation for a successful teaching career. As a student you will gain the skills required for teachers and coaches in public and private schools. Our four-year program will meet both state and national standards. Oklahoma State competencies for licensure. National Association for Sport and Physical Education professional recommendations. So not only will you get a degree, you will earn a degree that is backed by two highly respected standards.

B.A. or B.S. in Psychology Degree

Our psychology program boasts a breadth of curriculum that intentionally engages the relationship between faith and psychology throughout the major and graduate program. We have the only academic program in Oklahoma preparing master’s level students to be registered play therapists. And excellent graduate programs in Counseling, Marital and Family Therapy and an available emphasis in Child Therapy. 

Social Studies Education Degree

Completion of a degree program in social studies education enables students to begin a career as a Middle School or High School Teacher of History, Government, Geography, Economics, Sociology or Psychology.

Mathematics Education Degree

Completion of a degree program in mathematics education enables students to begin a career as a Middle School or High School Teacher of Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, and Calculus.

Music Performance Degree

SNU’s music performance degree is versatile. A combination of theory and practice provides an emphasis that prepares you for a wide range of work. These programs will allow you to develop a diverse skill set through a number of unique learning opportunities. Long hours in our state-of-the-art recording studio under a professional studio owner. Perform a variety of musical genres from classical to sacred to secular.  Whatever your desire in instrumental performance, SNU has the opportunities for you to thrive.
