Welcome to the SNU Lab School

Welcome to the SNU Lab School, nestled in Bethany, Oklahoma, and closely linked with university expertise. Our Christ-centered private school prides itself on integrating cutting-edge, research-backed educational methods holistically aimed at human flourishing. Recognizing the varied needs of our students, we've crafted adaptable learning environments that support both individual and group learning.

Since 1972, our commitment to training educators has been unwavering. We see ourselves as architects of the future of teaching, offering comprehensive teacher and administrator training through Southern Nazarene University's School of Education. Our Lab School serves as a dynamic classroom for university students, who apply the latest educational practices under the mentorship of seasoned teachers.

Our approach to student development prioritizes skill and self-reliance over age. We champion a vision of education that values initiative, experiential learning, empathy, and creativity. Our students are encouraged to develop critical thinking, entrepreneurial skills, self-directed learning, and collaborative abilities.

Our educational philosophy is anchored in meaningful exploration and interdisciplinary studies, supported by a customized blend of digital and traditional learning methods.

Pioneers of the Lab School model, now in our fifth decade, we boast a team of expert educators and hold prestigious accreditations from the Oklahoma State Department of Education, The Higher Learning Commission, and the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP).

Our university students engage in a unique, hands-on learning experience, delving into child development within an active educational setting. They conduct practical research, including observations and teaching, as part of their extensive study of the education process.

While our curriculum is not confined to a single methodology, our Christian ethos profoundly shapes our teaching and school culture. We believe in every child's ability to learn and encourage them to actively shape their understanding in an environment enriched with Christian values.
