What is the “Joy Walk?”
The “Joy Walk” is an annual community-wide fundraising event sponsored by the SNU School of Education where the SNU Lab School’s preschool through 8th-grade students and parents walk or run alongside the SNU staff and faculty in support of the SNU Lab School!
Are you ready for 1972 Seconds of Active Lightning?
On May 15, 1972, the SNU Lab School was founded by visionary educator, Dr. Joy Beaver. To honor her legacy and celebrate our 49th birthday we are inviting you to join us for our first ever SNU Lab School Joy Walk.
This 32 minute and 52-second active lightning strike allows SNU Lab School students to become part of the Crimson Storm experience on the SNU campus. When lightning strikes as part of a storm it produces tremendous energy and a strong positive charge; just like our students!
Why do we have a Joy Walk?
SNU Lab School is competitively priced to be an affordable private school option. Tuition and fees cover approximately 85% of our operational budget and we are left to fundraise the remaining amount. This is our major annual fundraising event. The Joy Walk also helps us build community by providing volunteer opportunities for our parents and students, allowing everyone to participate in the financial growth of our school as we model fiscal stewardship and servant leadership.
Who can participate in fundraising?
Every student at the Lab School can participate by collecting monetary donations from family and friends who will support their walk on May 15, 2021. Pledge money will also allow students the opportunity to earn their own Joy Walk T-Shirt and they may be eligible for prizes including the Grand Prize $1,000 in Lab School tuition credit or a $500 Amazon gift card! Details will be included in your student’s packet.
